The Cottage SuiteThe Worsley Cottage
The Worsley Cottage is one of the oldest buildings on the Old Park Estate and in the early 17th Century was probably a gatehouse. In the kitchen can be found a large beehive oven which was used to supply bread to the main household. The cottage was enlarged around 1800 ( a George II penny was found in the footings ) and again in 1864. It has recently been renovated to a high standard, but with the original sloping ceilings, beams and narrow staircase retained to provide charming, cosy accommodation. On the ground floor there is a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, a comfortable lounge, and a bathroom. Upstairs there is an additional bathroom, a double and a twin bedded room. There is also a large landing area that can accommodate a single bed or a cot. There are stair gates at the head and the foot of the stairs. There is access to a small enclosed garden through the kitchen/dining room. The washing machine and tumble dryer are off the entrance lobby, and the suite has two direct dial telephones. The hotel is situated in a very quiet secluded location. The main hotel building is 100 meters across the private concourse. Child listening is available, but guests need to take into account the distance from the main hotel; it may not suit those with very young children.
